Submission Guidelines
This section deals with submission categories, referencing and other formalities to be followed by the author before submission of manuscript.
1. General Guidelines
The Journal of Cyber Governance and Intellectual Property accepts original and unpublished scholarly works for publication. Authors are advised to review the journal’s previous publications and editorial standards before making a submission in order to ensure thematic relevance and compliance with the journal’s publication requirements.
The journal does not entertain submissions that have already been published or are simultaneously under consideration before another journal, publisher, conference, or platform unless such disclosure has been specifically communicated to the editorial board at the time of submission.
All submissions must be made in editable Microsoft Word format (.doc or .docx). Manuscripts submitted in PDF format shall not be considered for review.
2. Categories of Submissions
Research Articles: Research Articles should ordinarily not exceed 5000 words.
Review Articles: Review Articles should ordinarily not exceed 4000 words.
Case Studies / Case Comments: Case Studies or Case Comments should ordinarily not exceed 3500 words.
Book Reviews: Book Reviews should ordinarily not exceed 1000 words.
The prescribed word limit shall ordinarily include references and footnotes unless otherwise specified by the editorial board.
3. Formatting Requirements
Authors shall prepare manuscripts in Times New Roman font with font size 12 for the main text and font size 10 for footnotes. The text shall be single-spaced and justified.
The title of the manuscript shall be in font size 15, bold, and centre aligned. Names of authors and their affiliations shall be in font size 10 and centre aligned. Contact details of the corresponding author shall also be provided on the first page of the manuscript.
The abstract shall not exceed 250 words and must briefly indicate the objective, methodology, scope, and principal findings or arguments of the manuscript. Appropriate keywords shall be provided immediately after the abstract.
All headings and sub-headings shall be bold, left aligned, and unnumbered.
4. Structure of Manuscript
The manuscript should ordinarily be arranged in the following sequence:
- Title Page
- Abstract
- Keywords
- Main Text
- Conflict of interest and funding declaration (if any)
Tables, charts, illustrations, figures, and graphical materials should be placed within the text at the appropriate position where they are first discussed.
5. Citation and Reference Style
The journal follows a citation format substantially inspired by standard legal academic citation practices and the latest edition of the Bluebook citation style wherever specific guidance is not expressly provided under these guidelines.
The use of id., ibid., supra, infra, and similar repetitive citation methods should ordinarily be avoided. Authors are encouraged to provide clear and complete citations wherever necessary.
No full stop marks are required at the end of references.
6. Citation Formats
Journal Articles:
References to journal articles should include the name(s) of the author(s), title of the article, title of the journal in italics, volume number, issue number in brackets, year in brackets, and page numbers.

Narayanan R, Digital privacy and intermediary obligations, Indian Journal of Technology Law, 11(2) (2021) 145-167
Books:
References to books should include the author’s name, title of the book in italics, publisher and place of publication in brackets, edition, year of publication, and relevant page numbers.

Menon Arvind, Technology Regulation and Constitutional Governance (Eastern Law House, Kolkata), 2nd edn, 2022, p 88-94
Book Chapters:
References to book chapters should include the author’s name, title of the chapter in italics, details of the editor or author of the book, title of the book in italics, publisher details, edition, year, and page number(s).

Sharma P, Artificial intelligence and copyright ownership, In. Bhattacharya S (ed), Contemporary Issues in Intellectual Property Law (LexFort Publications, Bengaluru), 2023, p 201-215
Conference Papers and Proceedings:
Proceedings of conferences and symposia shall be cited similarly to books. References to unpublished conference papers should include the author’s name, title of the paper, name of the conference, and details of the place and date of the conference.

Websites and Online Sources:
References to online materials should include the complete website address along with the date of access wherever necessary.

Hyperlinks should not be embedded within references.
Case Laws:
References to case laws shall begin with the name of the case in italics followed by the citation.

7. Submission Requirements
All submissions must satisfy the following requirements:
a) The manuscript must be original and unpublished.
b) The manuscript must not be under consideration before another journal or publisher.
c) The submission file must be in Microsoft Word (.doc or .docx) format.
d) The manuscript must comply with the prescribed formatting and citation standards.
e) Hyperlinks should not be included within citations or references.
g) Authors must ensure that all authorities, sources, materials, and references relied upon have been appropriately acknowledged and cited.
h) Necessary permissions relating to copyrighted materials, images, tables, or figures must be obtained by the author(s) wherever required.
8. Author Declarations
Authors shall submit all mandatory declarations and disclosures prescribed by the journal, including declarations relating to originality, copyright, conflict of interest, plagiarism compliance, and disclosure regarding the use of artificial intelligence tools or technologies.
Failure to comply with the submission requirements or editorial standards of the journal may result in rejection of the manuscript at any stage of the publication process.
