Plagiarism Policy

This section deals with the requirement that submitted manuscripts must be original, unpublished, and not under consideration elsewhere.

1. Originality of Manuscripts: By submitting a manuscript to the Journal of Cyber Governance and Intellectual Property, the author(s) affirm and declare that the submitted work is original, unpublished, and has not been submitted simultaneously to any other journal, publisher, or platform for consideration or publication. The author(s) further undertake that all sources, references, data, opinions, extracts, tables, figures, and materials derived from the work of others have been duly acknowledged and properly cited in accordance with accepted academic citation standards.

The journal strictly discourages duplicate submission, redundant publication, and any practice inconsistent with fair and ethical publication standards. Any violation of these principles may result in rejection, withdrawal, or retraction of the manuscript and may attract further editorial action.

2. Plagiarism Policy: The journals published and hosted by Vintage Legal maintain strict standards concerning plagiarism, originality, and academic integrity. Plagiarism in any form, including direct copying, paraphrasing without attribution, mosaic plagiarism, self-plagiarism, data manipulation, and unauthorized use of copyrighted material, is considered a serious violation of publication ethics.

All manuscripts submitted to the journal are subject to plagiarism and similarity assessment through editorial scrutiny and/or plagiarism detection software. The journal reserves the right to reject any manuscript found to contain plagiarized or substantially similar content. Authors are advised that the mere inclusion of citations may not necessarily eliminate plagiarism where the use of material remains excessive or improperly reproduced.

3. Author Responsibility: It shall be the sole responsibility of the author(s) to ensure that the manuscript submitted for publication complies with ethical publication standards and does not infringe the copyright, intellectual property, or other legal rights of any third party. Authors are under an obligation to disclose all information, material, ideas, arguments, and content derived from external sources through proper acknowledgment and citation.

The consent of all co-authors must be obtained prior to submission. Submission of a manuscript shall be deemed to constitute a representation by the author(s) that all authors have agreed to the submission and publication of the work.

4. Declaration Form: All authors are required to submit a duly signed Author Declaration Form at the time of submission or prior to publication. The declaration form shall include, inter alia, declarations relating to originality of the manuscript, copyright, conflict of interest disclosure, and disclosure regarding the use of artificial intelligence tools or AI-assisted technologies during the preparation of the manuscript.

Failure to submit the required declaration form may result in the manuscript not being considered for publication, notwithstanding acceptance through the editorial or review process.

5. Conflict of Interest Disclosure: Authors are required to disclose any actual or potential conflict of interest relating to authorship, funding, institutional affiliations, financial interests, sponsorship, professional relationships, or contribution associated with the submitted work. In the absence of any conflict of interest, the author(s) shall expressly state that no conflict of interest exists.

6. Copyright and Licensing: Authors publishing with the journal shall remain responsible for ensuring that the submitted work does not violate the copyright or proprietary rights of any person or entity. Authors shall submit the prescribed copyright declaration and publication consent form as required by the journal.

The journal reserves the right to publish, archive, reproduce, and disseminate accepted manuscripts in accordance with its publication and open-access policies. Any specific copyright and licensing terms applicable to the journal shall be governed by the respective journal policy and author agreement.

7. Use of Artificial Intelligence Tools: Authors are required to disclose the use of any artificial intelligence tools, language models, automated writing software, or AI-assisted technologies used during the preparation, editing, research, or drafting of the manuscript. The author(s) shall remain fully responsible and accountable for the accuracy, originality, authenticity, citations, analysis, and integrity of the submitted work irrespective of any AI-assisted usage.

Artificial intelligence tools shall not be recognized as authors or co-authors of any manuscript.

8. Post-Publication Complaints and Retraction: In the event that plagiarism, copyright infringement, false authorship claims, or other forms of academic misconduct are discovered after publication, the journal reserves the right to investigate the matter and seek clarification from the concerned author(s).

Upon determination of a genuine violation, the journal may take appropriate measures including withdrawal, correction, removal, or retraction of the published manuscript without prior notice. The editorial board may additionally issue editorial notices or communicate the matter to the relevant institution or authority wherever deemed necessary.

9. Editorial Discretion: The decision of the editorial board regarding plagiarism assessment, ethical compliance, publication eligibility, withdrawal, correction, or retraction of any manuscript shall be final and binding for the purposes of publication with the journal.
