Role of Technology in the Prevention of Crime

Abstract

Technology plays a very important role in the day to day life of human beings. It contributes to the development of the nation. There are various developments in the fields of the invention of the technology. Now a day the best example is AI Artificial Intelligence . There are also various other types of technologies are also there. Technology not only helps to make any work more easier for the human beings but also it helps to prevent the crime rates. In the modern time with development of time various countries are also using technology for the overall growth. Technology helps to reduce the crime rates and also to prevent crime.

Introduction

Technology occupies a very special position in the life of a human being. It has completely changed the every shape of the life. If we look at the present scenario then we can notice that the crime rates are increasing day by day .So technology helps to stop this. It not only helps to control the crime but also it improves the capacity of the law to find out and examine the various unlawful activities. There are a lot of developments in the technological fields and these are ensuring about the people’s well being and to decrease the crime. Law enforcement agencies also play a very essential for the prevention of the crime. Central Bureau of Investigation, State Police Unit, National Investigation Agency ,Central Reserve Police Force ,Central Industrial Security Force these are the various types of the law enforcement agencies.

How does technology help in law enforcement?

The population of India is 142.86 crores .with the growth of the world and also in the development of the various technologies it is also very essential to prepare with the changes for the police. With the growth of the society there are also various forms of crimes are also taking place. For example theft of money, website spoofing, data theft, cyberbullying and other various types of crimes. Information and Communication technology is a system and it grants enlightened service with the Information technology. Information and Communication technology is competently used for the law enforcement .Delhi Government has combined with the Indian Space Research Organisation to begin a technology and it is known as Crime Mapping Analytics and Predictive System . This step will help to control the crime by using the space technology. In Odisha ‘ MO SAATHI’ is an app and it plays a vital role to insure a good law enforcement. It provides help the women if the face any alarming situation .This is the best example that how technology can help to reduce the crime .

Law Enforcement Communication

There are the various examples of the law enforcement communications and these are -

Digital Communications and Tools -

In India there are various digital communication technologies also there and in India they have changed the law enforcement and also permitting them for secured communication and also to share real time data.

Forensic Technology -

Specially in forensic science the DNA and the role of digital forensics have contributed greatly for the crime solving ability of India.

How technical advancement ensures faster investigation

There are various technologies that help to make the investigation accurate and faster . closed circuit television is used in lot of places for safety purpose .And this also record the video so when any crime takes place it iv very easy for the police to investigate through this and make their process more quicker. The Government of Uttar Pradesh has invented an app named Staqua. This app is very helpful for the police department because it collects the information about the criminals and also store them.

Advantages and Disadvantages of using technology

Everything has some advantages and some disadvantages . By using technology there is also some advantages and disadvantages -

Technology plays a very vital role to make the investigation easy and it also helps to maintain the law and order situation .Due to the use of the new technologies the criminal investigation process is very clear now. But there are also some disadvantages of the use of the technology and these are people who have misused the technology. Sometimes technology violates privacy.

Issues and Challenges

With the advancement of the time there are various developments that have also been seen in the technology. The technology is changing day by day and with the changing technology it is also very important for the police department to upgrade them in accordance with this. With that it is also very essential to give specific training to the officers for the proper handling of the machines.

Suggestions

There are the various suggestions to make improvements in the work of the police by using technology. And these are –

It is necessary for all the state governments to prepare themselves for the various technologies .Central mechanism is a mechanism and it helps to combine all the systems so that it is very easy to know about the person’s criminal history of the country.
It is also very important that the Criminal Tracking Network and the National Intelligence Grid should make their work quick for the improvement of the police department.

Conclusion

In the present scenario it is totally impossible to assume a day without technology. We can use it in our day to day life. We can use technology to make development in the various fields. Especially technology can be used to not only to reduce the crime rate but also to prevent the crime.
