The Internet of Things devices are everywhere. They are making a lot of data. This is a problem for people who have to make sure all this data is handled correctly. This research paper looks at the rules and laws that govern the data from Internet of Things devices. It focuses on how to keep this data private and secure and how to make sure all the different devices can work together. The paper looks at laws like the General Data Protection Regulation from the EU and the California Consumer Privacy Act. It sees how these laws apply to Internet of Things devices: The General Data Protection Regulation is a law from the EU that helps keep data private; and The California Consumer Privacy Act is a law from California that also helps keep data private. The research finds some problems with how data is handled now. For example it is not clear who owns the data from Internet of Things devices. It is also not clear how to get permission for devices to talk to each other. The paper suggests some ways to make a system for handling Internet of Things data. It says we need to make sure devices are designed with privacy in mind from the start. We also need to make sure devices can work together easily..
